Radiesse®

What is RADIESSE® filler? Dermal Fillers, Annapolis MD
RADIESSE® filler is an injectable filler that works by immediately restoring facial volume to smooth out the signs of aging. Once injected, it works with your body to stimulate the production of your own natural collagen for results that may last a year or more in many patients.

What is the difference between RADIESSE® filler and other fillers?
RADIESSE® filler has the unique ability to both immediately restore lost volume and stimulate your body to produce its own natural collagen for long-lasting results.

What areas can be treated with RADIESSE®?
It's ideal for correcting the following facial areas:

  • Smile lines, also called nasolabial folds, which run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines, which begin at the corners of the mouth and extend down toward the chin
  • Corners of the mouth can begin to turn downward, giving the look of a constant frown
  • Pre-jowls that form along the jaw-line
  • Chin wrinkles

How does it work?
Once injected, RADIESSE® filler does exactly as it says: it fills or replenishes volume lost over time for a more refreshed looking you. Then it goes to work by stimulating your body to produce its own natural collagen.  Over time, your body absorbs the product and leaves behind only your own natural collagen for long-lasting results.

How soon can I expect results?
Instantly! Immediately upon injection, RADIESSE® filler restores volume to smooth out the signs of aging.

How long does it last?
Not only does RADIESSE® filler provide immediate correction, the natural, beautiful results may last 9-12 months or more in many patients.

Does it hurt?
RADIESSE® filler is FDA approved to mix with lidocaine (an anesthetic). That means you can experience a more comfortable wrinkle treatment. In fact, in a clinical study, using RADIESSE® filler mixed with lidocaine significantly reduced pain in 90% of patients treated.

What is it made of?
RADIESSE® filler is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres which are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. These calcium based microspheres are similar to minerals that are found naturally in your body so allergy testing is not required. Over time, your body absorbs these tiny microspheres and the gel and leaves behind only your own natural collagen.

How is the treatment performed?
RADIESSE® filler is injected into the skin in a simple, safe, quick procedure that can even be done over your lunch hour. RADIESSE filler injections are more comfortable because it has been FDA approved for mixing with lidocaine, a kind of anesthetic.

Is it safe?
RADIESSE® filler is FDA approved, and has undergone rigorous testing in clinical studies to prove its safety. As with all filler treatments, patients may experience redness, bruising, swelling or other local side effects. Most side effects of treatment resolve within a few days. More rare side effects may include swelling that lasts longer, unevenness or firmness in the area injected, and as with any injection, there may be a risk of infection.

Are there any side effects?
Just like any injection, you may experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve on their own.

How long is the recovery time?
There is very little to no down-time involved in a RADIESSE® filler procedure. In fact, most patients return to their normal, daily activities right after their visit. Every patient is unique, so be sure to discuss your plans with a healthcare provider.

Restylane®

What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic procedure used to restore volume and fullness to the skin and to reduce severe facial wrinkles and folds.

What is Restylane® made of?
Restylane® is the first cosmetic dermal filler made from non-animal-based hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.  The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane® different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?
Restylane® has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid available in a dermal filler.

Is Restylane® safe?
Yes.  Restylane® has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide.  Restylane® is fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not required.  After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling which will usually last less than a week.  Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears.

Can Restylane® be used anywhere on the face?
Restylane® has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles.  Restylane® has been approved for wrinkles and folds like those from the nose to the corner of the mouth.

How long does Restylane® last?
Restylane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results.  Studies have shown that Restylane® effects may last up to 6 months.

How often should I have Restylane® treatments done?
Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year.

What preparation is required?
Avoid using aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for the two weeks prior to your Restylane® treatment.

Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler is an injectable filler that quickly integrates into your skin and is used for both superficial and moderate facial wrinkles. Once injected, it instantly smooths the lines and wrinkles in your face.

What is the difference between Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler and other fillers?
While Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler is made of the same material (hyaluronic acid) as some other fillers, Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such sa nasolabial folds (smile lines around the mouth), yet soft enough to treat less severe areas such as vertical lip lines (thin lines that appear aboove the lip line).

How does it work?
Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler is made of a material called hyaluronic acid or HA. HA naturally exists as a component of your skin. By binding to water, it plumps and fills in wrinkles, allowing immediate and smooth correction.

How soon can I expect results?
Instantly! Immediately upon injection, Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler plumps the skin and smooths away lines and wrinkles.

How long does it last?
Individual results may vary but Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler may last about 6 months or more.

What is it made of?
Belotero Balance® Dermal Filler is made of a substance called Hyaluronic Acid or HA. A natural component of skin, HA has the capacity to bind to water, making it an ideal dermal filler, as it binds with the skin's own water to plump wrinkles and folds.
